The people...
Justine Cleveland, LCSW - Owner and Therapist
Creative. Kind. Loyal. Authentic. Fun. Passionate. These are words that describe me and my therapy style. I have an empathetic, and down-to-earth approach to helping. I am a big believer in the healing strength of relationships, based on my over 10 years of experience with kids and families and in my own life. I hope to be a warm and authentic connection to my clients. I empower them to develop skills for building positive, trusting bonds in their lives too. However, there is one more unique relationship to Wholehearted Herd Counseling---the horse one! I believe in this power because my adolescent years were hard for me and I often felt lonely and misunderstood. I found a healing connection with my first horse, Stormy. He never bullied me or told me I was too shy or awkward but just listened and held me in his horsey way. I have seen horses have that relationship with others and I can't wait to help you experience a trusting bond like this too. I also love helping clients broaden their relationship with the ultimate healer, Jesus Christ as well. Justine is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner, is certified with Natural Lifemanship™ Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Therapy (TF-EAP), and has training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is also certified as an Adoption Competent Therapist through the Training for Adoption Competency (TAC). Justine provides individual trauma therapy for children and adolescents and family attachment therapy. Click on the attached links to learn more about each one.
Joshua Cleveland - Owner and Equine Specialist At times there will be a second professional needed to support treatment goals. An equine specialist helps to make sure the horse's needs are being met as well as the humans. Josh has a bachelors degree in Human Services and knows these horses well because they are his personal friends!
Wholehearted Herd Counseling, LLC also has a great relationship with the UW Social Work programs and frequently has interns learning, assisting, and leading in sessions.
The Horses...
At Wholehearted Herd Counseling, LLC the horses are partners alongside of the people. They are respected for their opinions and input in services. We believe that horses are beings with feelings and thoughts that are capable of making their own decisions that we respect.
